First Day Home

It's 10am and I've already unpacked all our suitcases, washed 4 loads of laundry and put everything in its place. I even had a conference call about the revamp of my personal website and a chat with my managers. Life just keeps on rolling no matter how tired you are!

I've  never really blogged before.... so bare with me. I may write random and detailed accounts of things that don't really relate to losing 10 pounds. And some days I may give you more information than you wanted to know about my eating habits! I'm just going to have fun here at www.reshapingitall.com and hope you will too.

I wanted to start off by addressing a few things. I want you to know that I'm not writing this as a "celebrity".  I'm not getting paid to promote any products. I'm simply writing this blog as a mom and wife who's job is being actress (which often times make me more aware of my body). I'm not blogging about losing weight to become skinny or skinnier. In fact, I'm a big advocate for being FIT. I love weight training and will take muscles over skinny any day. (And that's not put down anyone who is skinny by nature.) I've just put on a few pounds over that last year and want to get back to my normal weight range which typically fluctuates 2-4 pounds.

With that being said...I only have 7 pounds to lose according to my scale at home. To be honest (which I only will be honest with you), I weighed myself a few days ago in Switzerland at the end of our vacation and was up exactly 10 pounds from my normal weight. I knew some of those pounds were vacation pounds- which I expected to put on, HAPPILY! I also knew that the first few pounds would shed quickly just by being back at home and in my normal routine. A few days of clean-er eating, I'm down a few already. For instance, on the plane rides home, I skipped the desert, drank only water, took the skin off the chicken and just ate the side salad and veggies, not the grits. Yes, they served grits.

To start the process, I decided to do a 5 day juice cleanse. I know people have varying opinions about juice cleanses.... I happen to like them. It's not a fast, but a cleanse. I ate my way through Europe, literally. I ate my weight in pasta, cheese, gelato, bread and wine. Those are things I typically reserve for occasions or in major moderation, but for the last 3 weeks, I kind of went for it and enjoyed every bite! To get myself back on track, doing a juice cleanse will help get rid of all the toxins and sugars I've accumulated and help my body adjust to normal healthy eating habits.

Here's where I get my juice cleanse from. www.pressedjuicery.com  If you're up for it, check your local area for a juicery. If you have a Whole Foods nearby, they juice too! Or, juice from home. Obviously, that's the cheapest route. I just don't have a juicer and needed the convenience of a service. If you check out Pressed Juicery's website, I'm sure it will satisfy your juice cleanse questions WAY better than I ever could. And because I know you'll ask... I'm doing cleanse 2.

That's it for today! I've got another pre-interview phone call in a few minutes.

  7. I'm glad you had fun on vacation and just relaxed about life. It's always good to have some time where you don't worry about life and can just enjoy it. It's also great that you're back on track so soon afterwards. What an inspiration! I must go check this juice cleanse out...

  8. Wow that's a great start Candace! I've never done a juice cleanse before and would like too but I'm a little nervous about it. I think I'll look into it though.

  11. Ok,I know I will be accused of bashing Candace- and I am really not. But I have questions. This cleanse thing confuses me. I don't understand why this cleanse is any different then taking a diet pill? If you regularly eat well and exercise why do you need to spend over $400.00 for a six day juice cleanse??? That's my entire paycheck !! I find that alarming. Why not just do the diet and exercise?? Or buy the home juicer?

  12. Anonymous- I hear your thoughts on the juice cleanse and prefaced that in my blog. Juicing is certainly different than taking a diet pill. Non pasteurized juices are giving you an amount of fresh fruit and vegetables you could never eat in one day. There is nothing genetically modified or fake about juicing unlike a diet pill. You're also getting enough calories to sustain you for a day, unlike a diet pill that offers only a suppressant, it doesn't give you calories, vitamins, minerals or any daily nutrition. Look at the website I wrote in the post for more answers to your questions. I also wrote that home juicing is the least expensive and great way to do it, I personally just needed the convenience of a delivery service.

    1. Anonymous-I also have to add, that fresh live fruit and veggie juices (unpasturized-uncooked) are loaded with enzymes that hit you on a cellular level. Each and every cell you have in your body, dies and regenerates...by juicing, you are getting those live beneficial enzymes to your cells...old cells die off, new cells will be healthier. Also, another benefit of juicing vs eating is that it gives your digestive track a well deserved break. The food is pre-digested and all the beneficial vitamins, minerals etc go directly to work in your body instead of waiting to be digested, therefore losing a lot of benefits.
Home juicing is the best thing you could ever do for yourself but I must admit, this sounds very tempting. May do it after my vaca as well. Shopping and preparing the fruits and veggies can be very daunting :-)

Candace....I checked out all three of the plans and do not see any difference. All the pull down selections for all 6 meals is exactly the same on each plan. Am I missing something?

  13. I'm so excited that you are digging in & blogging! This is perfect timing for me. I followed along with you and Darlene when she started this site. I was really excited to see a new post; especially since I am in the same boat you are in (minus the fabulous trip to Europe). I have been thinking and wondering about a juice cleanse. I got a Jack Lalanne Juicer a couple of years ago as an anniversary present (from my Mom & Dad). I LOVE the juicer, and have under-used it since my initial excitement of owning the "fancy" juicer. I will be checking out that site and seeing what I can do with my juicer! Thanks for sharing!!!

  17. I am due any day now with baby #2 and am blessed to be naturally thin. I want to start back up on some kind of exercise program after I have the baby in order to have energy and be healthy, not to lose weight. Is a juice cleanse a good thing to start with? Then, should I focus more on strength training than cardio? What kind of exercises do you recommend for that, since I see you are also more strength focused? Thanks!
