I pray this book will be more than a weight-loss book and far more than any testimony. I pray that by it faith will be your compass in this journey through weight loss to freedom, as it has also been mine. Not only is God wanting to walk this journey with you; He is ready to equip you to handle the job. Why? Because "He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or thing according to the power that works in us." (Eph. 3:20, NKJV). And besides that, He cares so deeply for you that even the hairs on your hair are numbered. ~ Candace Cameron Bure, Reshaping it All, page 3.
What a beautiful prayer to start our journey of Reshaping it All!!
Chapter one gives us an introduction to the life of Candace. We get a behind the scenes look at the Bure's 'full house,' where there's rarely a dull moment. But what we also get is a picture of a woman who is always ready to leave the past behind to embark on a new journey with Christ. The exciting thing about the book, and this website is that Candace is inviting each one of us to come along on this journey with her!
Regardless of where we are in our journey to live well, (and for many of us this journey includes a desire to lose weight) we can be assured of one thing: Reshaping it All, provides the motivation you'll need!
I'm starting this journey with you. And because I made it through the first day with flying colors (Yay!!), I know that I can do as well tomorrow, and the day after that.
Just think about it for a minute: if you live well for five minutes of your life and make good choices within that time, then why do you doubt that you could carry that out? Failure is not a reason to give up--it's the reason you need to press on.
Some of you have asked, what can I do to get started? Here are five tips that I'm personally putting into practice each day:
Some of you have asked, what can I do to get started? Here are five tips that I'm personally putting into practice each day:
- Formulate a plan deciding what you want to achieve and how you plan to get there, then pray asking God for guidance and strength.
- Be mindful of how much you eat and how much you move. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.
- If you aren't sure exactly how to stop when you're full. Try taking smaller portions. And after you're done, decide if you're satisfied or physically hungry for more.
- Stop drinking calories and start drinking more water if you aren't already. 6-8 glasses is a good rule of thumb.
- Incorporate wholesome food into your diet, and eliminate junk.
Thank you so much to all of you who have been involved in supporting this group. Your smiling face, your comments, your tweets, and your giveaways are a blessing that I’m humbly grateful for.
We have comments (finally I got them figured out—yay!) there’s a chat box in the sidebar, and there’s always linkup below where you can add your smiling face for all of us to see.
See you tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteI am in!! Just filled up my first glass of water! 7 more to go!! Thanks SO much!
ReplyDeleteToday was my day to start over and really focus on changing my eating habits! I am so glad I stumbled onto your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about this challenge too as I've had the book for awhile in my Sony eReader but haven't had the chance to dig into it yet. Now is the perfect time... with all of you!
ReplyDeletePlus, I'm just finishing up my last week of a 6 week challenge on my Wii (EA Sports)program. Even though I haven't seen the scale move, I have seen my body shape shifting (for the positive) and I've been counting calories and "budgeting" those calories, trying to make healthier choices. Some days are successful... others not so much.
Looking forward to getting to know some new and inspiring ladies here as we reshape ourselves together with God!
Hugs :-)
Such a wonderful idea to have this! There's nothing better than to learn a healthy LIFESTYLE...a way to LIVE...not just a way to lose weight. But a way to live healthy for the rest of your life.

ReplyDeleteLove this book and am excited to re-read it and re-commit to health and giving my love of food to God even more over the next 65 days. What fun we will have together!
ReplyDeleteI am SO thrilled that you are hosting this challenge...it's prefect timing for me! I had my own personal goal to reach by July, but without accountability it's so hard! (Who's watching me when I open that pantry door?!?!) Now I know you are all out there making daily choices towards healthier living, too!!
ReplyDeleteHere's a quote I read in April that exhorted me...
"Each day I must choose: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret."
And let's not discount God's power...am I really asking him to help me be diligent?!
Choose well, everyone!

ARGH - my husband came home with Dairy Queen Blizzards for the family - seriously - how did he miss the memo that I'm trying to Reshape It All? lol!!
ReplyDeleteGuess he doesn't hang out on twitter like I do hehe!
Angela - frozen yogurt - that's the key! A great substitute!
Courtney
I can have frozen yogurt at the mall for a treat. That would be awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHey, y'all. There is a big bag of BBQ chips sitting in front of me on the table here. They are calling my name, but I love you all way too much to give in!!
Oooooh!!! I just remembered that i have pinapples, strawberries, and grapes washed and ready to eat in the pantry! I'll have that for a snack tonight!!
I finished the book about a month ago and for the first time in my struggle with weight I've really understood that for me it has been a sin struggle all along. It's going to continue to take time but through all the ways I've learned to use scripture I will be able to overcome this weight/sin issue and be wholly used for what God wants from me! Thanks Candace and Darlene for all your insight!
ReplyDeleteI'm a few days late, but what better thing to start on a Friday night! Getting closer to God and healthier in my weight! I'm so excited!!
