An Encouraging Word

Day 2 of Tracy's DVD was hard and I felt every bit of it. I started with the cardio as she says to and it made the toning DVD so much tougher! I'm sore in every place on my body- but it feels tight and good. I've gotta hand it to Tracy, that if I feel this kind of overall difference in 2 days, I can't wait to see what it's gonna look like in 2 weeks!

I haven't started following her eating plan yet. I'd like to try. It just takes a lot of prep work, and I haven't had the chance to go to the grocery store, prep and make all the foods. But I'm continuing to make smart choices with my foods each day and eat smaller portions. Despite having gone to a fast food restaurant yesterday (which I'll rarely eat fast food), I ordered a grilled chicken salad, skipped the croutons and ate it with just a tablespoon or so of balsamic dressing. And then I ordered a HUGE iced tea, unsweetened. Dinner was sautéed broccoli, carrots, pea pods and grilled chicken. I drank my favorite hot (and iced) decaf tea from The Good Earth.

Today, my encouragement to you is Psalm 32: I've italicized the part I want you to focus on in your relationship to God and food.

Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
    whose sin the Lord does not count against them
    and in whose spirit is no deceit.
When I kept silent,
    my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
    as in the heat of summer.[b]
Then I acknowledged my sin to you
    and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;
    you will protect me from trouble
    and surround me with songs of deliverance.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
    or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
    but the Lord’s unfailing love
    surrounds the one who trusts in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
    sing, all you who are upright in heart!

Offer your need up to God today and keep up the good work.

  1. I love verse 11. I love spending time in worship. Thanks for the encouragement.

  5. Verse 9 struck out at me. But what, as human beings, do we have that helps to control our discipline?

    I decided to exersie every day the Olympics runs; and will continue on after but not every single day.

    I don't know how to lose the 10 pounds I need to. I feel somewhat discouraged. I don't know what I am doing so wrong when I eat healthy and have portion control; plus now I am exercising.

    Would anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong that they were doing wrong and discovered what that was?

  6. Hey Diana,

    Few tips from someone who seemingly couldn't lose weight for years...
    1. Is there a medical issue? Check with you Dr that you don't have anything like insulin resistance or PCOS. Common problems that make losing weight hard.
    2. Write down EVERYTHING you eat. I think Candace talks about this in her book and I have to say it really helped me. Don't judge or beat yourself up over any bad choices but just look at what you are eating objectively. You may be surprised that it is something small you're missing.

    I've read some of your comments and it sounds like you're doing brilliantly. Celebrate your small victories and be persistent! You're running a race with God and your body. You'll get there but you may need to be patient.

    Bless you!

    1. Thank you for your insight and positive comments. Especially being patient which is what I have to remember but don't like.

  7. Also, remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so taking actual measurements might show more of a change than the scale.

    1. Thanks. I know I've got lots of muscle which I don't like and with exercise it is sure to increase :(. I will do the measurements. Thanks again.

  8. Candace, would you mind telling me the name of the tea you like? Also, where do you find Good Earth brand? I love tea too and it helps me not drink "bad" stuff! Thanks for all your encouagement. I'm going out for a walk right now :-)

  9. It is great having a support system online with others who are going through a similar things. Thanks all.

  10. The tea I like is The Good Earth Original. It's come in both caffeinated and decaf. It's sold at most grocery stores like Vons, SafeWay, Ralphs, Kroger etc.

    1. Ohhh! I LOVE Good Earth tea!! Unfortunately I can't get it in good ol' Alberta. :( Unless you know of a place since living in Calgary?? ;)

  11. And Candace, THANK YOU for your encouragement by way of walking out this life as a follower of Christ - living for Jesus. Your life is such a blessing and I'm looking forward to getting strong and healthy, too...especially being able to drop 15 lbs. I have gained that much in the past year - yuck. Getting my Thyroid checked this week. Again, thanks, sistah!

  12. I've been following many blogs for few days.
    And your blog is one of the best. I'm impressed
    with your article.
