Reshaping it All - Day 15

We're finishing up chapter four today, and since chapter four is all about mapping out a "plan," I hope that you were able to decide on one that you will stick to for life.

While Reshaping it All isn't a diet plan, it is a motivational tool that encourages you to embrace a healthy lifestyle and live in moderation.

Whether you're going this route or choosing a path of your own, here is Candace's plan in a nutshell:
  • Stop eating when you're satisfied.
  • Don't eat fried food or traditional fast food.
  • Watch your daily intake (from cheeses and cream-based foods).
  • Don't drink soda pop or sugar drinks.
  • Eat lots of fresh veggies, fruit, and lean proteins.
  • Keep desserts to a few bites.
  • Snack on nuts (seven to ten).
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Get some exercise!
My favorite verse in Reshaping it All is this, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." ~ 1 Corinthians 6:12

Since God has given us life and the things that pertain to it, it's okay to enjoy ourselves. The problem resides when we are controlled by those things we enjoy. Take chocolate brownies for instance. There's nothing wrong with having a little piece every now and then, but if our appetite has control over us to the point where we can't stop at one piece then our flesh is ruling our spirit. Not good.

Candace encourages us to choose a plan that includes an occasional treat, while our focus is on living a life of moderation that is pleasing to the Lord. This doesn't mean that we all be a size two, in fact you might be a very healthy size twelve--that's okay. But I do pray that all of us are seeking to reshape our bodies from the inside out, including an intimate relationship with the Lord. Our bodies are crying out to be filled, we are hungry and thirsty for something, and that something will never give life-lasting results unless we seek to be quenched from within.

For those who are reading along with us, we are doing two chapters/week. We start a new chapter every Monday and Thursday.
