Persevere

I hope you had a chance to visit www.TheBetterMom.com yesterday and read my guest post. It was exciting to share a deep piece of my heart with all of you. Thank you for your encouraging words back to me and I pray them over you and your families!

I'm in Napa this week- an ultimate spot for food and wine! I normally have a mind set of packing on few pounds each time I'm here, but am in a good place and not gonna undue the hard work I've put in. I've prayed each morning, focused on God's word to refresh me, renew my strength and protect me. I'm so thankful for a God who joyfully carries my burdens and wants us to ask Him each day to do so.

I brought my Tracy Anderson video (strength only) and my 3 lb weights. Our friends from Florida are staying with us and doing the cardio workout in the living room isn't an option. I'll be going for a short run this morning to supplement and finish off with the DVD (in my bedroom).

Yesterday I ate well, small portions, although I went a little overboard on chips and guacamole at dinner. I didn't have dessert and was proud of myself. Honestly, I didn't even crave it.  I'm staying strong because I'm feeling good and want to keep moving a forward direction. I hope you are too.

Today's encouragement comes from Hebrews 10:23-25

And let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage
one another-and all the more as you see the Day
approaching.

Persevere.

It's what God calls us to do. Hold on to His hope, that He can transform us within, and because of our self-discipline by the power of the holy spirit, it will be  reflected on the inside and outside.

Let it become a habit to meet together and spur one another on!  Meet with your friend, your husband, your children, your accountability partner, your online support bloggers so that we can encourage each other to stay faithful, true and committed. Grab your partner and go workout. Having a buddy makes all the difference- isn't it cool to see God encourage us to do that? Stay in communion with one another, especially when it comes to God's word. Are you in a small bible study group? If not, I urge you to find one- in person is best, but online will work!

And lastly... (what I needed to hear most this morning)

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God,
you will receive what he has promised.  (Hebrews 10:35-36)

  1. I share the same weight battle and have become frustrated... seeing the same number day after day. Would you suggest getting rid of the scale?
    Good Luck!

  2. Is it weird that I love you? You're SO unbelievably true to your fans/friends/followers. No one in Hollywood EVER has been that to their screaming fans. It's like...you're trying to be just us everyone else, and I love that! There is a reason why you are God's favorite...

  3. That ties perfectly with what I read this morning in Proverbs 31:31! I love how God works...and ties things together so that I can "get it!"

  4. Perserverance is what the Christian life is all about, isn't it? I started seeing a nutritionist through work as an accountability partner. So far, so good; had a blood draw this morning that will show if what I've been doing for the last month has had an impact on some key numbers. Bit by bit...

So thankful that God created us to be part of a community, that none of us are whole without the others.

  5. I'm currently reading Reshaping It All, and so far I love it. I also just finished the book Made to Crave. Both books are giving me the motivation that I needed to get my booty in gear as I'm currently at my highest weight ever! My husband and I are currently doing a 21 day fast to pray for some things so we decided to cut out all of the junk...sodas, chocolate, bread, pizza, chips, etc. It isn't easy but it's definitely helping me realize that all it takes is a little self-control and willpower. I enjoy your blogs and motivation. I can't wait to hear you speak at my church in September! :-)

  6. Another great post! And boy I can relate to perseverance:) This verse keeps coming to mind this week as I'm praying for you:

    Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

    Cheering you on-
    Stacy

  7. There are children in the world that are abused and starving and you pray to god to help you shed this imaginary "extra" weight you carry? This is what you teach your teenage daughter? She has a mother who does not appreciate her young, healthy strong body? You are not overweight by any means don't pass on your strange body image issues to a whole new generation.

  8. Anonymous, what a hateful person you are. You asked Candace not to pass on strange body issues. I'm going to ask you not to pass on strange judgments on Candace. As a mother or in any area. You have no idea what she teaches her daughter, and you shouldn't presume to know what she is teaching her daughter about body image or anything else for that matter. Check yourself before you pass such judgments on something or somebody that you don't know anything about.

  10. Thank you all for the biblical verses that motivate and inspire me. Thank you all for your encouraging words. I'm sure everyone that reads Candace's words and the comments made feel the same. Blessings to all.

  11. To the 1st Anoymous, we are all God's favorites and what a blessing that is!! Candace, your book changed my life and I have now lost 36 pounds. I still have more to go but I know I can get there. Thanks so much!

  12. Judy I'm sure you mean well but Candace is a firm believer in free speech and I have the freedom to state my opinion. I do find it funny you call me judgemental of people I've never met and then call me hateful in the same breath. You shouldn't hate people. It's not very nice or Christian of you. God bless

    1. Anonymous, I don't hate you. I was referring to your words concerning Candace and how she is raising her daughter as being hateful. Granted hateful may have been too strong of a word. My point is, we should be using our words to lift up and encourage, not tear down and criticize. You are correct, we are entitled to free speech. I was exercising my right to free speech and stand by my original reply to you. You have no idea what Candace is or is not teaching her daughter about body image.

  13. Hi Candace (aka DJ), I'm looking forward to reading your book 'Reshaping it All'. It sounds very inspiring since I'm trying to maintain my weight after losing. It took many years of exercise and healthier eating to get to where I'm at and know it's a life long process. Mom at age 84 knows this well and still goes to exercise twice a week and walking on the other 5 days. Take care... Sheila

  14. Candace, my hubby and I had our first session with a personal trainer today and on the way there I was thinking of you and your blog! My body is a temple....a roll-y poll-y temple right now, but it's a temple no less and God willing it will be a much healthier temple soon. haha. Thanks for the motivation and Godly wisdom. Jodi :)

  15. Candace, thank you so much for sharing this post! It's such a great reminder about how we should pray to the Lord, always, and about all things. I'm so glad that God cares about us having a healthy lifestyle AND about starving and abused children. I'm so thankful to serve a God who doesn't view ANY of my prayers- big or small as trivial. Your posts are such an encouragement to me!
